What does Apple’s MFi program mean for Promo?

Apple’s MFi (Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad) is a licensing program for developers of hardware and software peripherals that work with Apple’s iDevices. The program covers various connectors including the headphone jack, original dock connector and the newer lightning connector as well as AirPlay support.  Companies joining the program and passing certification tests are able to display MFi logos on their product packaging.

Being able to meet your clients brief is essential and if an MFi approved product is part of this its good to understand the process.

When branding an MFi product you must comply with Apple’s regulations whereby a pre-production sample must be sent to an Apple authorised lab (UL) for testing and approval to ensure the products meet Apple’s strict standards. Apple will charge around USD$700 for the approval process and take up to 3wks to approve the sample.

Technovation has a number of MFi products that can be purchased plain or branded (on request).
